Quilting can affect you more than you may think. Quilting is an art of sewing beautiful products by hand that have been passed down from generation to generation. Mothers and daughters piecing together fabrics and creating wedding bedspreads are what it is all about.
Quilts have been passed down from couple to couple, generation to generation to adorn the marriage beds for centuries. Imagine the warmth that a quilt you have made and given to another will hold for the future. Imagine the amazing stories some of these old, handed down quilts can tell about its designer and quilter in a local quilting group and the conversations held around it.
The Right Fabric for the Perfect Quilting Project
Imagine with me if you will, a woman, a grandmother, carefully picking out fabric for the nest quilt. The fabric, which has been sitting for quite a while with no purpose except to be made into a quilting pattern. This fabric beautifully adorned with the most unique designs ready to fit into a quilt someday.
She does not know which quilt it will be for but, she knows that it is a special piece of cloth. She tucks it away for another time when its project will be revealed. No one knows when or for what it will be used, but it will stay safely hidden until the right time and design become apparent.
One day, she finds the fabric again. It has been hidden for some time. But she now has a special quilting project in mind. Her daughter is having a baby, another grandchild. This beautiful fabric will transform itself thru quilting into a beautiful cover for a newborn angel.
She carefully,and patiently works on the quilting project until it is finally finished to perfection. It is adorned with the beautiful fabric that was chosen, unbeknownst to her, for this special project. By quilting the baby spread, she is giving an heirloom that will be passed down form generation to generation in her family. Her heart is as warm as the user of this memory laden quilt. She has one of her own on her rocking chair that her mother finished quilting for her many years ago! This is what makes quilts so special.
